I just watched this interview of Edward Snowden by John Oliver. Two comments:
1.) How is it that we have gotten so deep into this mess? It’s not that we haven’t known or cared about the dangers of government intrusion in our lives, but why is it that that hasn’t been enough to protect us? It frightens me to no end.
2.) John Oliver is a teaching genius. It’s not about whether you are correct or accurate, it’s about whether or not you get your message across. And you know what? Dick pics.

Did he really interview Snowden or was that interview cut and pasted?
Unfortunately, radical Islam exists and is spreading creating the need for finding and monitoring terrorism suspects. There should be better oversight, however. Right now, a secret team from the President, or other high offices, could and maybe is getting access to NSA equipment for the purposes of political control via blackmail.

My belief is that it’s better to remove the reason for the terror than try to smash it with force.

How would you remove or change a religion that call for world conquest? Many of the most active Islamic Jihadists are very well off and dedicated to the tenets of the Koran for world conquest.

I’m not sure how that’s relevant. On Apr 16, 2015 2:49 PM, “A Ferret Called Wilson” wrote:

Ok, then I don’t understand what you think the reasons for terrorism are. I was just guessing what you think the causes are.

I think terrorism is just displaced missatisfaction in one’s own life. Islam is a pretty unhappy religion with lots of rules against pleasure, and I think that’s why fundamentalists — the ones who follow the strictest rules — are more often associated with terror

Many think the submission of Congress to the President, especially that of Democrats, is due to misuse of NSA. The delayed prosecution of Senator Mendendez is highly suspicious. The DOJ was investigating him for years, but acted only when he opposed the President on Iran and Cuba.

The case of Petraeus is another suspicious example, to say nothing of Beohner and McConnell.

I don’t know much about those cases because I try not to follow politics, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
